Progressive-reveal crossword (working demo)

Solve the open clues to unlock new clues and grid sections. One square takes several letters (a rebus). This is a small demo we built to show the mechanics. It isn't a client project.

How to play: tap a square and type. Space or the ⇄ button switches direction. For the multi-letter square, tap Rebus (or press Esc), type all the letters, then press Enter or tap Rebus again. Progress saves in this browser.
For a real project: the puzzle (grid, clues, which clues unlock which sections) comes from a simple data file we generate from your Excel mock-up, so you can change it without touching the code.
